Scottish Left-Back Penrice Heads to Greece

Heart of Midlothian defender James Penrice is set to complete a transfer to AEK Athens after the Greek Super League club made an official offer for the left-back.
The 26-year-old Scottish player joined Hearts last summer on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Livingston. Despite Hearts' disappointing season that saw them finish in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership, Penrice emerged as one of the team's standout performers.
The transfer could be finalized within 24 hours pending agreement on personal terms between Penrice, his representatives, and AEK Athens. The Greek club finished fourth in their domestic league last season.
Penrice's potential move follows significant news from Tynecastle, where Hearts announced on Thursday that star striker Lawrence Shankland had signed a new three-year contract extension.
Career Background:
- Began professional career with Partick Thistle
- Had loan spell at East Fife
- Joined Livingston permanently in summer 2021
- Impressive performances earned him move to Hearts in 2023
If completed, Penrice will become the second Scottish player this week to move to Greek football, following Greg Taylor's transfer from Celtic to PAOK in Thessaloniki.
