Modric Joins AC Milan After 13 Years at Real Madrid

Luka Modrić has officially joined AC Milan as a free agent, marking the end of his illustrious 13-year tenure with Real Madrid. The Croatian maestro has signed a two-year contract with the Rossoneri, running until June 2026, with an option for an additional year.

The 39-year-old midfielder confirmed his departure from the Spanish capital in May, following Real Madrid's participation in the Club World Cup in the United States. In his first statement as a Milan player, Modrić expressed excitement about this new chapter in his career through the club's official social media channels.

Milan's returning manager Massimiliano Allegri, who recently replaced Sergio Conceição, had previously praised Modrić as an "extraordinary player" when confirming the transfer earlier this month.

Modrić's Legendary Real Madrid Career

  • 597 appearances across all competitions
  • 43 goals scored
  • 28 major trophies won, including:
    • 6 UEFA Champions League titles
    • 4 La Liga championships
  • 2018 Ballon d'Or winner
  • Club's most decorated player in history

The midfield maestro's final match for Los Blancos was their 4-0 Club World Cup semi-final defeat against Paris Saint-Germain last week. Despite his age, Modrić remains determined to represent Croatia at the 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

His arrival comes as Milan look to rebound from a disappointing eighth-place finish in Serie A last season, which saw them miss out on European competition entirely.
