Newcastle Rejects £110m Liverpool Bid for Isak

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has issued a stern message regarding striker Alexander Isak's situation, stating the Swedish international must "earn the right" to rejoin first-team training.
Transfer Saga Intensifies
The Magpies recently rejected a staggering £110m bid from Liverpool for their star forward. Amidst growing uncertainty about his future, Isak was spotted training alone at former club Real Sociedad last Friday.
The 25-year-old striker, who expressed his desire to leave Tyneside in July, missed Newcastle's pre-season Asia tour due to what the club described as a "minor thigh injury".
Howe's Firm Stance
Speaking to Newcastle Chronicle, Howe revealed he hasn't spoken with Isak since Liverpool's bid was submitted. "He's like any other player - we expect him to train normally," the manager stated.
In a separate interview with Daily Mail, Howe emphasized: "You have to earn the right to train with us. We are Newcastle United. Every player has a responsibility to act professionally."
Isak's Impressive Record
The £60m signing from Real Sociedad in 2022 enjoyed a stellar 2023-24 campaign:
- Scored 27 goals in 42 appearances
- Helped secure Champions League qualification
- Netted in Newcastle's EFL Cup final victory over Liverpool
Shearer Weighs In
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer described the club's transfer window as a "mess" on The Rest is Football podcast.
"If he can't be persuaded to stay and we get our asking price, we should thank him for the memories and move on," Shearer commented. "No individual is bigger than the club."
