England Women's Team Honored in Buckingham Palace Ceremony

The England women's football team will celebrate their historic Euro 2025 victory with an open-top bus parade through central London on Tuesday. The procession along The Mall will commence at 12:10 BST, culminating in a special ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace.
Celebration Details
Fans are invited to attend the free public event, with live coverage broadcast across BBC, ITV and Sky. The ceremony will be hosted by former England star Alex Scott.
This celebration follows Monday's triumphant homecoming, where the Lionesses were greeted by jubilant crowds at Southend Airport before attending a Downing Street reception hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.
Historic Achievement
England successfully defended their European title with a dramatic 3-1 penalty shootout victory against Spain in Sunday's final in Basel. Goalkeeper Hannah Hampton made two crucial saves before Chloe Kelly converted the winning penalty, making history as:
- The first English team to win a major tournament on foreign soil
- Winners of back-to-back European Championships
The match became the most-watched television moment of 2025, with over 16 million viewers tuning in live.
Government Recognition
Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy praised the team for "making the country proud," while ministers announced plans to:
- Double access time for women's football at government-funded facilities
- Invest £400m in new and upgraded sports facilities over four years
- Establish a taskforce to replicate women's football success in other sports
King Charles III extended the Royal Family's "warmest appreciation and admiration," with potential autumn receptions at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle being considered.
Honors and Commemorations
While Downing Street ruled out an additional bank holiday, Royal Mail will honor the victory with a special postmark reading: "It's Home. Again. Champions of Europe 2025. England Women's Football Squad," applied to all stamped mail from Monday to Friday.
The Prime Minister's spokesman noted the independent honors nomination process but expressed hope for "lots of nominations for this incredible winning team."
